There are moments in life when we are tempted to believe that only by
having certain possessions or by reaching a certain social status can we
finally be content, fulfilled and have the joy that we seem to be lacking
right now. What we fail to realize is that possessions don't make the
person and no matter how high up on the social ladder we may climb, joy,
peace and contentment have nothing to do with the exterior of life. Joy
and peace come from within us and if we lack it from within, then nothing
on the outside will be able to fill it. That is why we must always come
back to the realization that God is the One who offers Perfect Peace,
Perfect Joy and Perfect Contentment. He freely gives to all who ask Him
and God fills their hearts with His Love that comes without motive and
without pretense. The Lord renews and refreshes every weary soul that
calls upon His Name. (Jeremiah 31:3) (Psalm 16:8-9)
I have learned that God is more faithful to us than we could ever be to
Him. Even when we think we know it all and we turn our backs on the Lord,
He waits patiently as a loving Father ready to redeem us and reconcile us
back to Himself again. He gives us more than we deserve and when we
deserve judgment, He offers mercy and grace. Knowing that we have such a
wonderful God, how can we not accept His invitation to be redeemed, renewed
and reconciled back to Him again? God is able to give us what this world
can't give. His love knows no end, His mercy is renewed every morning,
His grace is unimaginable and His wish is for each of us to spend eternity
in Heaven with Him. (Psalm 91:14-16) (2 Peter 3:9)
I encourage you to recognize your need for the Lord and know that it is
only through Him that you can receive all that you lack internally. Know
that God wishes to fill you with all that you have searched for and not
found and show you a love that you have never experienced before.
(Revelation 3:20) (Psalm 103:8-14)
I hope this message encourages and inspires your heart to see the our
greatest blessings are the ones that come from within.
WORTHLESS OR PRICELESS
I was driving my son to the sheltered workshop for the handicapped where he
works a few days each week. My seventeen year old car was cruising along
while the Spring sun shined down. The trees were budding and flowers were
popping up along the side of the road. I looked over at my son who was
humming along to a song on the radio. He turned his head, smiled and said,
“I love you Daddy.” I smiled back and said, “I love you too son.”
The green light ahead turned yellow and I slowed to a stop. Suddenly, a
gold Mercedes Benz screeched to a halt next to me. The owner was yelling
into a cell phone and slammed his hand on the steering wheel as he glared
at the now red light. After a minute the light changed and he sped away
with a scowl as big as his face. I drove on shaking my head and said a
little prayer that the owner of that expensive car would one day realize
the true treasures in life.
That miserable man in the Mercedes reminded me again of the worthlessness
of wealth and the pricelessness of love in the eyes of eternity. All of
his money hadn’t put a smile on his face. All of his things hadn’t given
him peace. All of his wealth hadn’t filled his heart with happiness or
brought meaning to his life. He seemed lost, separated from love, and
separated from God. He was trapped in a golden cage and didn’t even know it.
Please don’t spend your life in the pursuit of the worthless “fool’s gold”
that our society holds dear. Don’t try to gain the whole world and in the
process lose your soul. Instead spend your days here building “the
Treasures of Heaven” in your heart. If you do, your days will be blessed
with sunshine, smiles, and sweet laughter. If you do, you will not only
fill your soul with love, but you will also scatter joy to the world
around you. If you do, you will be able to give God the most priceless
gift of all: your life lived with love.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 61:1-4 “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. From the end of
the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to
the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a
strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I
will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.”
Psalm 103:1-5 “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's.”
Psalm 91:14-16 “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I
deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He
shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and
shew him My salvation.”
Psalm 8:3-5 “When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon
and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful
of him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him? For Thou hast made him
a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.”
Jeremiah 31:3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have
loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I
drawn thee.”
