The goodness and mercy of the Lord should keep us in continuous
praise
and thanksgiving. If you want to get the enemy frustrated and
discouraged,
there is nothing better than to worship the Lord in the midst of
your problem
or trial. Let us have the attitude of victory no matter what
things look like
in this physical realm. Show your confidence in the Lord and know
the unseen
world that God controls is even more real than this physical world
that we
are living in. (Philippians 4:4) (2 Corinthians 4:18)
I received this story from one of our members and thought it had a
very
good message on the forgiveness and mercy of the Lord. I hope
you'll be
encouraged by this message and know that condemnation only comes
from the
enemy, but forgiveness, mercy, and love all come from the God who
made the
heavens and the earth.
LESSON FROM A CHILD
One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of
town,
taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet
and slick.
Suddenly, my son Matthew spoke up from his relaxed position in the
front
seat. "Mom, I'm thinking of something."
This announcement usually meant he had been pondering some fact
for a
while and was now ready to expound all that his seven-year-old
mind had
discovered. I was eager to hear. "What are you thinking?" I asked.
"The rain," he began, "is like sin and the windshield wipers are
like God,
wiping our sins away."
After the chill bumps raced up my arms; I was able to respond.
"That's
really good, Matthew." Then my curiosity broke in. How far would
this
little boy take this revelation? So I asked... "Do you notice how
the rain
keeps on coming? What does that tell you?"
Matthew didn't hesitate one moment with his answer: "We keep on
sinning,
and God just keeps on forgiving us."
I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on. Isn't it
comforting to know that God does keep forgiving us. That all we
have to do
is ask Him to come into our lives and He will keep washing our
sins away.
I hope each of you remembers this story when you turn on your
wipers; God
does keep forgiving when we invite Him into our life.

Always keep in mind that God is a merciful and loving God and will
forgive
your sins and make you whiter than freshly fallen snow. We can
never
understand such forgiveness and such love, but the truth remains
that God
is that merciful to the world. He continually shines down His
light upon
the righteous and the unrighteous. The Bible says that God wishes
for
none to perish, but that all should come to repentance. He does
not wish
for one soul to be lost, but that all should repent and believe
and inherit
the kingdom of Heaven. (Psalm 31:19-20) (Matthew 5:45)
I encourage you to never rest in your strength and ability. You
will never
be good enough to meet the mark, but thank God that He has sent
His only
begotten Son that whosoever shall believe in Him should not
perish, but
have everlasting life. Rest in the work of the cross and know that
if you
have sinned against the Lord and have not repented; it is not too
late for
you to repent today and start afresh. God promises to forgive you,
to love
you, and to welcome you in with open arms. (John 15:5) (2
Corinthians 6:2)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Romans 5:20-21 “God’s law was given so that all people could see
how sinful
they were. But as people sinned more and more, God’s wonderful
kindness
became more abundant. So just as sin ruled over all people and
brought
them to death, now God’s wonderful kindness rules instead, giving
us right
standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord.”
John 3:16-17
“For God so
loved the world that He gave His only Son, so
that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal
life.
God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save
it.”
Isaiah 1:18-20 “Come now, let us argue this out,” says the LORD.
“No matter
how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you
as clean
as freshly fallen snow. Even if you are stained as red as crimson,
I can
make you as white as wool. If you will only obey me and let me
help you,
then you will have plenty to eat. But if you keep turning away and
refusing
to listen, you will be destroyed by your enemies. I, the LORD,
have spoken!”
2 Peter 3:9-10 “The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise
to
return, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your
sake. He
does not want anyone to perish, so He is giving more time for
everyone to
repent. But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a
thief. Then
the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and everything
in them
will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be
exposed
to judgment.”
