There are many times in life when we think the best years of our life are
behind us. It is important that we continually remind ourselves that as
long as we have air in our lungs; there is something to look forward to.
The Bible declares in Psalm 118:24 "This is the day which the LORD hath
made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." If you're feeling discouraged
because you think there is nothing to look forward to in life, please
remember God's promises and encourage yourself in the Lord. God has
unlimited ways of giving you great happiness and life fulfillment that you
probably thought were all too impossible. Keeping our eyes on Him will
bring a rejuvenated zeal to live life fully just as God has intended for
each of us. (Mark 10:27) (Hebrews 10:23) (Hebrews 13:5-6)
This is a good story that shows how the best days of our life are not
limited to one time or one situation. I hope this message encourages your
heart to look at life as a journey that has many great moments of laughter,
joy, happiness, peacefulness and enlightenment. We have loved ones to
enjoy and a life that is worth living. I hope you see that in this message.
THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE
It was June 15, and in two days I would be turning thirty. I was insecure
about entering a new decade of my life and feared that my best years were
now behind me.
My daily routine included going to the gym for a workout before going to
work. Every morning I would see my friend Nicholas at the gym. He was
seventy-nine years old and in terrific shape. As I greeted Nicholas on
this particular day, he noticed I wasn't full of my usual vitality and
asked if there was anything wrong. I told him I was feeling anxious about
turning thirty. I wondered how I would look back on my life once I reached
Nicholas's age, so I asked him, "What was the best time of your life?"
Without hesitation, Nicholas replied, "Well, Joe, this is my philosophical
answer to your philosophical question:"
"When I was a child in Austria and everything was taken care of for me and
I was nurtured by my parents; that was the best time of my life.
When I was going to school and learning the things I know today; that was
the best time of my life.
When I got my first job and had responsibilities and got paid for my
efforts; that was the best time of my life.
When I met my wife and fell in love; that was the best time of my life.
The Second World War came, and my wife and I had to flee Austria to save
our lives. When we were together and safe on a ship bound for North
America; that was the best time of my life.
When we came to Canada and started a family; that was the best time of my
life.
When I was a young father, watching my children grow up; that was the best
time of my life.
And now, Joe, I am seventy-nine years old. I have my health, I feel good
and I am in love with my wife just as I was when we first met. This is the
best time of my life."

I truly believe that happiness is something that comes from the inside. The
enemy loves to plant the seed of materialism which makes people think that
having this gadget or having that piece of jewelry will finish the cycle
of complete happiness. There is no truth in that at all. If you take time
and ask people what were the best times of their life, 99 percent of those
answers will not have anything to do with money or material possessions. It
is in our fellowship with the Lord and each other that we receive what
material goods cannot give. (John 8:44) (Colossians 3:14-17) (1 John 1:5-7)
I encourage you to revive the spirit of gratitude in your life and never
allow the enemy's negative thoughts to overtake you. The devil wants you
to believe that your happiness lies in the past, but the Lord says that
His plans are to give you a future and a hope. As long as God has given
you breath, there are great things ahead of you that are waiting to be
discovered. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-24) (Jeremiah 29:11) (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
Never allow the enemy to discourage your heart. Look to the Lord and
proclaim His goodness, blessings and favor over your life everyday. We have
power in the words of our mouth and when our confession is positive and in
agreement with what God says of us, then we will receive God's blessings
that are promised to overtake us. I ask you to try God in this and see if
He will not do what He said He would do.
(Proverbs 18:21) (3 John 2) (Malachi 3:10)
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Psalm 16:8-11 "I have set the LORD always before me: because He is at my
right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory
rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope. For Thou wilt not leave my
soul in hell; neither wilt Thou suffer Thine Holy One to see corruption.
Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in Thy presence is fulness of joy; at
Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
Psalm 103:1-5 "Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless
His holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who
redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness
and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy
youth is renewed like the eagle's."
Psalm 118:5-9 "I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me,
and set me in a large place. The LORD is on my side; I will not fear:
what can man do unto me? The LORD taketh my part with them that help me:
therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me. It is better to
trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in
the LORD than to put confidence in princes."
