It is easy to be appreciative and thankful when we take time to see the
abundance of our blessings. When we focus on our family, our children,
our health, we will quickly find that our problems don't come close in
comparison. It is only when we focus more on what we don't have that we
allow discouragement or disappointment to enter into our lives. When we
look at someone else's better job, better house, better car, etc., we
allow jealousy and envy to enter our hearts and make us forget the many
good things that we have to be thankful for. We can't live our life in
someone else's shoes and wish to have what they have, but we can live our
best life with the many good things that we do possess. We can make the
best of our life by focusing more on what we do have rather than on what
we don't have.
No matter how hard life may get, we can still choose to be thankful. We
can bless our life, choose to be happy even in the midst of any difficulty
and dare to believe that our latter end will be so much better than our
former beginnings. Having the expectancy for good things equips us to
face tomorrow with eagerness. Thinking positively about your life will
brighten the doorway for your future. Being upbeat, appreciative,
thankful, and optimistic is a sure way to bless our days and get us ready
to face tomorrow. Be encouraged to bless your life. You do so by being
thankful for what you have and being appreciative for all that you've been
given. Always remember that you are abundantly blessed and have much to
be thankful for. When you don't see it, you just have to focus on the
right things and all will be made clear to you.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see the many
blessings in your possession.
APPRECIATION
Spring is continuing to work her wonders in the mountains this year. The
skies are full of sunshine with only a few clouds floating on the wisps of
the winds. My flower box is full to overflowing with purple phlox. A patch
of bluebonnets sits proudly next to my front porch. A million dandelions
dot the fields. Thousands of bees and butterflies are doing their best to
help them flourish and grow. In the morning the birds sing their own “Ode
to Joy” while in the evening a blanket of stars keeps you warm in the cool
night air.
It seems too that this year I am appreciating Spring’s beauty more than
ever before. I am standing outside a bit longer in the morning to admire
the rising sun and am staying out a few more minutes each night to gaze at
the smiling moon. I am lying down on the warm grass to smell the flowers
and am taking the time to rescue the few, stray moths that fly into my
house. I am taking deeper breaths of the fresh, Spring air and am saying
some extra “Thank You’s” to God for giving us such a blessed time of the
year.
Perhaps this greater appreciation comes from the long and difficult Winter
we had this year or perhaps as I am getting older and wiser I am finally
beginning to see the glory and majesty that was around me all the time.
Either way I am grateful and happy. There is nothing sadder than passing
by a treasure everyday and not seeing it.
This world is full of beauty, wonder, and delight. It is full of countless
blessings given to us by our loving Father above. All we have to do is
open our eyes to see them and open our hearts to feel them. Don’t ignore
these glorious gifts from God. Don’t allow yourself to pass them by. Open
the door of your soul and welcome them in. Let them warm you, nourish you,
and strengthen you. Let them become one with you. Then go out and share
their joys with everyone.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
James 1:2-5 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers
temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire,
wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that
giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto
thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall
direct thy paths.”
Psalm 20:6-9 “Now know I that the LORD saveth His anointed; He will hear
him from His Holy Heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some
trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of
the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and
stand upright. Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.”
Psalm 37:23-26 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. I have been young, and now am
old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging
bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.”
Philippians 1:6 “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
