1262nd -- A Father's Forgiveness

The love that God has for each of us can never fully be comprehended by our finite minds. God's love reaches beyond the farthest borders, His forgiveness knows no limits, His mercy and grace envelop us even when we are at our worst. Knowing that God loves us as He does, we should be quick to call upon Him all the days of our life no matter our iniquities or shortfalls. Many times people feel so bad about their sinfulness that they believe the lie that God could not or would not forgive them, but that is the farthest thing from the truth. God wishes to forgive and redeem every soul that walks upon this earth, but they can only be forgiven when they call upon the Lord and ask for His forgiveness. And when they ask for His forgiveness, the Bible says God wipes their slate clean. He creates within them a new spirit with new dreams, new aspirations and new desires. But it all starts with us asking for His forgiveness and repenting for our sins. (John 3:16) (Jeremiah 31:3) (Ezekiel 36:26)

No matter where you are in life, I want you to know that God loves you and patiently waits for you to call upon Him. God is not mad at you. God is not waiting to strike you down. He is a loving Father Who is rich in mercy. He can forgive you, redeem you and make you a new creation in Christ. Every shortfall, every sin will be wiped away and a new life through Christ you will have. That is a wonderful exchange for any person and it is a promise made for you before the foundation of the world. That is what Jesus did. He reconciled the world back to Himself again with His sacrificial death on the Cross for all mankind. The Lord's love for you is so great that He willingly suffered and died on the Cross so that you may live eternally with Him. (1 Peter 1:18-21) (2 Corinthians 5:17-19)

The Lord Jesus is our advocate, our Redeemer, our vindicator, our High Priest, our King and our God. With Him all things are possible. So if the enemy is whispering in your ear that you are beyond redemption, I want you to remember that the devil is a liar and the father of all lies. God loves you and will never cease loving you. Call upon the Lord, submit your life into His capable Hands and see what miracles He will do through your life. We truly haven't lived until we live for the Lord. It is then that we will be used in ways that we never thought or imagined for ourselves before. I encourage you to give Him your life and see how extraordinary He can make it. (Mark 10:27) (John 8:44)

I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to see that God loves you and wishes for you to be reconciled with Him again.

A FATHER'S FORGIVENESS

When I was a boy I always wanted to be a cowboy. I remember my Mom worrying about me getting sick from the heat in the summer, because I wore a thick blue sweater all the time. No respectable cowboy, however, would wear short sleeves so I sweated while I played.

I was overjoyed too when one day my parents gave me a bb gun. It looked just like a lever action rifle that all the cowboys used in the movies. I spent hours each day during those summer months shooting at stumps and pretending to be John Wayne. I even mastered the one-handed, swing, cock and shoot move I had seen him do in a movie once. At least that is what I thought. As I was coming into the house one afternoon, though, I tried it one time too many. The gun that I thought was empty let out a soft pop and a bb flew across the room and parted the hair of my Dad who was asleep on the couch. My Dad took one look at the bb hole a half inch above his head, walked over to me, took my gun, walked outside, and calmly broke it in half.

I didn’t cry too much over this. I knew how close I had come to hurting my Dad with my stupidity. I didn’t expect to ever get another bb gun either. That is why I was so surprised when my Dad bought me another one the next year. I guess he thought I had wised up enough to know how to use it this time. I never put a single bb in the new gun, but in my imagination John Wayne rode again.

I eventually outgrew my cowboy stage, but I never did outgrow my appreciation for my Father’s forgiveness. He showed me that even when I messed up in the worse way I was still loved. He gave me another chance and let me know that I was forgiven whether I deserved it or not. He shared with me some of the unconditional love and forgiveness that our Father in Heaven has for us all. May we always embrace and share that love and forgiveness as well.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:

Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Isaiah 26:3-4 “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength.”

Psalm 91:1-4 “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Psalm 91:14-16 “Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him My salvation.”

Psalm 34:8-10 “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in Him. O fear the LORD, ye His saints: for there is no want to them that fear Him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.”

All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
