One thing we can always rest on is the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He has full power in Heaven and on Earth and every created thing is subject
to Him. The Bible declares in John 1:1-4 “In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the
beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not
any thing made that was made. In Him was life; and the life was the light
of men.” In the Lord Jesus Christ is life and all who belong to Him has
life and life everlasting. The Lord is faithful to those who trust Him
wholeheartedly and in no way will He disappoint those who depend on His
faithfulness. He is more faithful than we could ever think or imagine.
Concerning the faithfulness of our Lord Jesus, I think of the story of the
Centurion whose servant needed to be healed. When the Lord heard the
man's story, He agreed to go to his house and heal that servant, but the
Centurion did something that the Lord Jesus marveled at. Matthew 8:8–10
declares “The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that Thou
shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant
shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under
me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he
cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard
it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I
have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.” The Lord Jesus then
assured the centurion that he can go back to his home and find his servant
healed and he was. The Lord Jesus is faithful to His Word.
The Centurion had enough faith and trust in the Lord Jesus that just His
spoken word would be enough to heal his servant. How much more should we
as the blood bought church of Christ believe His word and trust Him in
every area of our life? Just as the Centurion trusted that Jesus' word
was enough, then so should we. We should take God at His word and believe
every promise that is written throughout the Bible, God's Holy Book. If
God said it, we can trust it and we can have confidence that it will come
to pass. The Bible isn't just a historical book that is meant to educate
us, it is a Living Book that has great power within its timeless pages.
It can encourage, lift up, edify, strengthen, inspire, convict, challenge
and lead us towards the righteous path that leads to life everlasting.
Psalm 107:20 declares “He sent His Word, and healed them, and delivered
them from their destructions.” His Word is enough to bring healing, to
bring restoration and to bring about a new beginning.
No matter what you go through in life and no matter what challenges try to
bring you down or make you question your faith, I can assure you that
Jesus' Word is enough to strengthen you and make you have confidence that
all will be well in the end. Do not allow doubt to take root in your
heart because it will make you waver, it will make you lose heart and it
will make you think that God has forsaken you. There is nothing further
from the truth because God is more faithful to us than we could ever be to
Him. Isaiah 49:15 declares “Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not
have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, Yet I will
not forget you.” God is faithful, He is trustworthy and we can depend on
Him forever.
I encourage you to trust the Lord Jesus in every area of your life. Have
confidence in His Word, trust that He has your best interest in mind at
all times even in the moments when you don't understand why. The answers
may not come to us in ways that we had hoped or imagined, but when they do
come, they will be perfect for us. Our job is to stay in faith, stay in
trust and know that God's plan for our life is much bigger and better than
we could ever think or imagine for ourselves. Have confidence in God's
Word just as the Centurion did over 2,000 years ago and you will find
yourself, like he did, having the answer that you sought brought perfectly
before you.
Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that
cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek Him.”
Psalm 37:23-27 “The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and He
delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down:
for the LORD upholdeth him with His hand. I have been young, and now am
old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging
bread. He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. Depart
from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.”
Proverbs 2:1-6 “My son, if thou wilt receive My words, and hide My
commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and
apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,
and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver,
and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the
fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth
wisdom: out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 “I call heaven and earth to record this day against
you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:
therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: That thou
mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice, and
that thou mayest cleave unto Him: for He is thy life, and the length of
thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy
fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”
All of these scriptures can be found in the King James Version Bible.
