No matter how busy we may get in life we still have the ability to show our
care and love when the need arises around us. We can lend a helping hand,
we can give a word of encouragement, we can bend our ear and listen to
someone's problems and offer our best advice. We can do our best to follow
God's command to bear one another's burden and show with our acts of love
that we truly do care for our fellow man. By our positive and affirming
actions we can show all people the love of God that resides within our
being. When we do act in a Christ like manner, we are drawing all those
that are in our path towards our Lord and Redeemer Jesus Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2) (2 Corinthians 5:20)
We must always remember and keep in mind that people are hurting all around
us. They need to be shown a pure love that is without motive and without
pretense. A perfect love similar to God's love toward us. Just as He is
loving, forgiving, long-suffering, merciful and gracious so should we be
also. We who have been forgiven much must also forgive the same. We who
have received mercy and grace should also offer the same. We who have
been loved when we were unlovable should also offer the same. Let your
life be that beacon of hope and love that all people are drawn to and wish
to emulate. Let us lead our life in a manner that is not only pleasing to
God, but pleasing also to our fellow man. (Luke 6:30-31) (Romans 12:9-10)
I encourage you with my whole heart to go the extra mile for your neighbor
when the need arises. Don't pass it off on someone else thinking that you
are too busy or too preoccupied with something more important. When you
take the time for someone else, God will smile down upon you and give you
what you have lacked. When we become our brothers burden bearer, God will
be our burden bearer just the same. 1 John 3:18-19 declares “Dear children,
let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our
actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be
confident when we stand before God.” Let us make God proud and treat
others as we would like to be treated. That is a legacy that we will be
proud to call our own.
I hope this message inspires and challenges your heart to go the extra mile
when the need calls for it and do for someone else what they can't do for
themselves.
YOUR JOB IS TO LOVE
My kitchen table was covered with papers. It was the end of the month and
I was trying to get all of my paperwork done and taken to the office on
time. I sat down in a chair, picked up my pen, and started writing on the
first page. Just then a flash of motion caught my eye. I looked out my
window and saw my neighbors’ white beagle standing on my back porch. She
had gotten free from her yard and was having fun running loose.
Knowing my neighbors were at work I looked at my paperwork, sighed, and put
down the pen. I headed out the backdoor and whistled for the dog to come.
She looked like she might come to me for a second, but then she caught a
scent in the air and headed for the woods. I ran after her calling and
whistling the whole time. As I followed her further and further into the
woods, I grew frustrated. “Come on!”, I said to no one in particular. “I
have work to do!”
Suddenly, I heard a soft, gentle voice that was not my own whisper in my
mind. “Your job is to love,” it said. At that moment my heart was filled
with a warmth and love that are beyond my words to describe. My eyes
moistened and I smiled at the same time. I squatted down and called my
neighbors’ dog again. This time the beagle turned and ran happily into my
arms. She licked my face over and over as I carried her the quarter mile
back to her yard. Even though my arms were tired my heart was light. I was
at peace doing my real job. The paperwork could wait.
God loves us all and His greatest joy is in seeing us love each other as
well. To love is our job, our mission, and our purpose in this life. Do
your job well then and have the time of your life while you do it. Love
God. Love yourself. Love others. Love animals. Love this world. Love your
life. Share your love in everything you think, feel, say and do. And
rejoice in the peace and happiness it brings to you always.

Read and meditate on these scriptures:
Ephesians 4:2-3 “With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering,
forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the
Spirit in the bond of peace.”
Romans 12:10-14 “Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;
in honour preferring one another; Not slothful in business; fervent in
spirit; serving the Lord; Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation;
continuing instant in prayer; Distributing to the necessity of saints;
given to hospitality. Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.”
Romans 8:14-17 “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons
of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but
you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of
God, and if children, then heirs-heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ,
if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.”
Romans 12:18-21 “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably
with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place
unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the
Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him
drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not
overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 “Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are
unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all
men. See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that
which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.”
